Here at JELD-WEN UK, a global organisation that produces and manufactures Doors and Doorsets, we’re looking for an EHS Manager to be based in Sheffield, UK.

JELD-WEN Sheffield has recently relocated to our brand-new facility at Bessemer Park with a modern design, great sustainability features and excellent transport links.

It’s an exciting time as Sheffield becomes our new European Headquarters delivering low volume, commercially focused, value-add products alongside the broader transformation agenda across the business, this is a pivotal time to join us!

You will be enthusiastic, and passionate about the human, commercial and environmental aspects of health and safety and able to motivate managers and drive change. You will have functional and technical knowledge in EHS performance and management controls enabling you to assign responsibility for tasks and decisions, monitor process, progress, and results.

What your impact will be:

  • Responsible for the EHS Management of Sheffield.
  • Plan, implement, coordinate programmes to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illness and claims by showing due diligence around environmental impacts.
  • Assist and support personnel in safety and environmental hazard assessment including the implementation of effective control measures.
  • Provide up to date advice and guidance to the management team on legal compliance, best practice, strategy implementation and industry standards.
  • Assist and support the management team on environmental permits for associated areas.
  • Ensure compliance with company management and ISO accreditations, ISO 14001, 45001 and 9001 where appropriate.
  • Ensure effective distribution of EHS resources across the site to meet business demands.
  • Lead contact for liaison and interaction with enforcing authorities.
  • Lead contact for customer in area of responsibility relating to EHS.
  • Compile and evaluate incident statistics to identify patterns and trends to target risk reduction and monitor effectiveness of EHS strategy.
  • Develop and deliver new and refresher in house training programmes.
  • Compile EHS performance reports for Sheffield.
  • Liaising with enforcing authorities in area of responsibility.
  • Attend and facilitate EHS meetings onsite in Sheffield.
  • Live the JELD-WEN values and drive a positive EHS culture.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Previous EHS experience working in a manufacturing environment or similar industry in an EHS Management role.
  • Professional qualification in Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Management - NEBOSH Diploma or country specific equivalent.
  • A proven track record of successful delivery of HSE processes, policies and initiatives resulting in improved standards and behavioural change, with the ability to adopt a strategic approach.
  • Leadership experience of a small team, within a larger organisation alongside mentoring experience of direct reports and others within the wider business.
  • Confident communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders across all operational teams.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Team player, driving alignment and collaboration.
  • Proficient IT skills, presenting skills, report writing, statistical analysis and development of training packages.
  • Must be fluent in both written and spoken English.
