Health, Safety & Environment Manager

Elevation Recruitment Group are pleased to be working with a speciality chemical manufacturer in the Leeds area to recruit an experienced Health, Safety & Environment Manager.

This is a key leadership role with responsibility for driving and continuously improving the site’s health, safety, process safety and environmental performance within a high-hazard manufacturing environment - the business are lower tier COMAH.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the site’s HSE strategy and continuous improvement activity
  • Ensure compliance with COMAH regulations and process safety requirements
  • Manage major accident hazard risk and maintain the site Safety Report
  • Lead HAZOP, LOPA, risk assessment and Management of Change activities
  • Drive compliance with relevant legislation including DSEAR, COSHH, PUWER and LOLER
  • Manage ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems
  • Lead environmental compliance, permitting, emissions monitoring and sustainability initiatives
  • Develop emergency response and business continuity arrangements
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, regulators and operational teams
  • Lead, coach and develop the HSE team

About you:

We are looking for an experienced HSE professional with a strong background within a COMAH-regulated or high-hazard manufacturing environment.

You will have excellent knowledge of process safety, UK HSE legislation and environmental compliance, alongside the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

Experience within chemical manufacturing, petrochemical, pharmaceutical or similar high-risk industries would be highly advantageous.

A NEBOSH Diploma, equivalent Level 6 H&S qualification or relevant degree is essential.
