Job Description
FJ Booth is seeking an experienced Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) Manager to join our team. This role is based in Guisborough, providing support to our Fabrication Shop in Skelton and multiple construction sites throughout the UK.
About the Role
As our SHE Manager, you will play a critical role in driving a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance across all projects. You’ll be responsible for implementing and monitoring SHE standards, advising project teams on legal and company requirements, and auditing compliance at customer sites.
The ideal candidate will have extensive SHE experiences within Construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining the company's accreditations
- Developing and implementing health, safety, and environmental policies in accordance with legal regulations and company standards.
- Conducting risk assessments to identify potential hazards and developing preventative strategies.
- Organizing safety training for employees to ensure awareness and understanding of safety and environmental practices and legislation.
- Monitoring compliance with policies, performing customer site inspections, and preparing detailed reports on findings.
- Leading emergency response initiatives and conducting investigations after incidents to establish root causes, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
- Advising on specialist areas such as fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, occupational diseases, and waste management.
- Maintaining current knowledge of legislation and regulatory requirements related to health, safety, and environmental matters that impact the organization.
- Collaborating with internal leadership and external regulatory bodies to maintain compliance standards.
- Implementing health and safety plans that comply with company policies and legislated standards.
- Overseeing environmental performance and adherence to legal environmental standards.
- Handling safety/regulatory audits both internally and externally.
- Coordinating with HR departments to ensure physical examinations and medical clearances are completed per the company's policies.
- Developing and maintaining documentation related to HSE initiatives, such as inspection forms and training modules.
- Delivering health, safety, and environmental training to project teams and supply chain partners.
- Supporting accreditation processes and preparing submissions for audits.
- Assisting in selecting and onboarding supply chain partners, from PQQ to on-site engagement.
- Contributing to bid preparation to meet client health, safety, and environmental requirements.

What We’re Looking For

- Proven SHE management experience in Construction, Civil, or Petrochemical sectors.
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Strong knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 management systems.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence and engage teams.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach to safety and compliance.
