Help Shape the UK’s Energy Future

Environment & Sustainability Manager Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C

As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the Marine and Tunnels Section.

What will you do?

The main purpose of the role is to support and provide advice to the project teams (particularly at site delivery level) on all aspects of sustainability and the environment with the aim of ensuring contractual and regulatory requirements are met. Inform and advise the project environmental and sustainability teams through coordination and development of effective standards to deliver a culture of continual improvement. The role will directly engage and partner with the Head of Environmental Management and Sustainability.

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

Essential

  • Proven experience in the infrastructure industry in an environmental and/or sustainability role.
  • Proven experience of leading a team.
  • Cost estimation and commercial awareness.
  • Degree in relevant field.
  • MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point to a high standard.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to operate in a range of environments.
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to positively influence environment and sustainability within projects.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Experience in implementing ISO14001.

Desirable

  • Chartered environmental professional.
  • Internal environmental auditor qualification.
  • Competent ecological surveyor for one protected species.
  • Knowledge or experience of DCOs and NSIPs.
