Ltt Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well-established, fast-growing national specialist in high-voltage engineering and critical infrastructure with a confidential search for an Environment & Sustainability Manager.
This is a visible, business-wide position where your work will be valued and capable of making a genuine difference.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The appointment will begin as a nine-month maternity cover, with a target start in early November 2026 to allow for a structured handover. This is not simply a “keep the seat warm” assignment. If you come in, drive progress and make a real impact, the business intends to explore a permanent position working alongside the returning manager. Any permanent appointment will be subject to performance and business need, but the opportunity is genuine.
ABOUT OUR CLIENT
Our client is a well-established, nationally operating specialist in high-voltage electrical engineering and critical infrastructure. The business provides end-to-end design, project delivery, installation, commissioning and maintenance support across energy, renewables, transport, industrial and other demanding infrastructure environments. This is a confidential search, so the client’s identity will be shared with suitable candidates at the appropriate stage.
ROLE DETAILS
- Salary: £45,000 per annum
- Contract: Nine-month maternity cover
- Hours: 36 basic-rate hours across four days per week
- Work base: Home-based, with weekly attendance at the client’s Norfolk office or as required
- Travel: Nationwide customer and site visits
- Target start: Early November 2026
- Vehicle: £6,000 annual car allowance or company vehicle
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
You will work across the business to promote environmental good practice, support legal and operational compliance, champion sustainability and turn plans into practical action. Your responsibilities will include:
- Progressing the company’s Sustainability Strategy and converting priorities into clear, measurable actions.
- Supporting the development of the environmental management system and ISO 14001 accreditation programme.
- Coordinating environmental and carbon data, including Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.
- Conducting environmental audits and operational site inspections.
- Investigating environmental incidents and recommending corrective actions.
- Reviewing and improving environmental policies, procedures, objectives and targets.
- Advising project managers on environmental requirements, including CDM and Construction Phase Plans.
- Liaising with clients, subcontractors and suppliers on environmental performance and best practice.
- Supporting supplier sustainability questionnaires, subcontractor audits and pre-qualification submissions.
- Designing and delivering practical environmental training, toolbox talks and internal communications.
- Helping the leadership team embed meaningful and commercially sensible behavioural change.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
This role would suit an analytical, results-driven environmental or sustainability professional who can think commercially and communicate clearly. You should be comfortable moving between data, documentation, site conversations and senior-level challenge without losing momentum. You will need:
- Practical experience in an environmental, sustainability or closely related position.
- Hands-on auditing and site-inspection experience.
- Working knowledge of ISO 14001, environmental management systems and relevant environmental legislation.
- Confidence working with environmental and carbon data.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to train, influence and build trust with senior leaders, operational teams, clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Good organisational, reporting and IT skills.
- The flexibility to attend the Norfolk office weekly and travel to sites nationwide.

Because the position involves regular nationwide travel and driving on company business, applicants must hold a full, clean driving licence valid for use in the UK. Any appointment will be subject to the client’s motor-insurance requirements. Experience within engineering, construction, energy, renewables or another regulated, multi-site environment would be particularly valuable.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
- £45,000 basic salary.

- Business-mileage reimbursement at 55p per mile for the first 10,000 business miles in each tax year and 25p thereafter.
