The role
At NRW, the Sustainable Management of Natural Resources (SMNR) is at the heart of everything we do. As an Assistant within the Environment Team, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of work that protects and enhances Wales' natural environment while helping to improve the wellbeing of communities across the country.
Working as part of a dedicated team, you will help ensure the effective delivery of NRW's regulatory responsibilities, providing vital administrative and operational support that enables environmental improvements on the ground. You'll work with a wide range of colleagues, customers and partners, contributing to meaningful outcomes for people, places and nature.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a collaborative environment, has strong organisational skills, and wants to make a tangible difference to Wales' natural resources and future generations.
Driving is essential to this role. Needed to help manage the fleet vehicles and attend meeting. You must hold a full and current UK driving license.
As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to the NRW office at the above location and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings or training will be planned in advance.

About Us
Natural Resources Wales' Dwyfor & Meirionnydd Environment Team are based in Dolgellau covering a significant Proportion of NW Wales. Undertaking work on Improving - Water Quality; Water Resources and Protected sites. In addition we take a key role in Managing Incidents within our remit.
What You Will Do
- Support the integrated delivery of functions by the team and place including collation of complex regulatory compliance and enforcement information, coordination of responses and administration of incident response rotas.
- Hold or develop a knowledge in processes such as evidence collation, database administration or simple permit determinations that supports the delivery of work by the team or place
- Respond to basic customer queries and ensure that more complex queries are recorded and passed on to relevant staff
- Support and process procurement requests for the team or place to ensure appropriate equipment is available and maintained in line with procedures.
- Undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post
- Be committed to Natural Resources Wales Equal Opportunities and Diversity Policy, together with an understanding of how it operates within the responsibilities of the post
- Be committed to your own development through the effective use of your personal development plan (known as Sgwrs).
- Required to take part in incident response activities.
- Any other reasonable duties requested commensurate with the grade of this role.

Your qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills
In your application and interview you will be asked to demonstrate the following skills and experience using the STAR method.
- A good understanding of NRWs regulatory remit.
- Good organisational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers and partners.
- Able to work well as part of a team.

Additional Information
Successful applicants will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) check. Appointments are normally made within 4 to 8 weeks of the closing date.
Natural Resources Wales is unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position. Although we hold a Skilled Worker visa sponsorship licence, it applies only to specific roles that meet both the eligibility criteria and salary requirements set out by the UK Government under the Skilled Worker visa route.
