The Opportunity
Amentum is the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the PPP (Programme and Project Partners). This is a 20-year arrangement to deliver ~£7bn of major projects. We are looking to recruit high value expertise from across regulated and comparable sectors to work in a collaborative environment. PPP is delivering major projects, site wide improvements and provision of supporting services.
PPP is an exciting model to work in with Four world class organisations who have come together as one team, to create a clean and safe environment for future generations. The programme arrangement is set to deliver ~£7bn worth of major projects creating a lasting legacy through the long-term partnerships.

The Role
As a result of increasing demand for our services, we are looking for an Environmental Advisor to join our SWMTF team, providing expertise to the project to facilitate and deliver environmental management related matters to agreed strategies and timescales.
Reporting to the project Environmental Manager, you will provide guidance and support on environmental management and waste management to the project team.
Responsibilities could include:
- Assistance in the development and implementation of environmental and waste management plans and strategies.
- Assist in the identification and management of environmental aspects, via the project environmental aspects register.
- Support with development of the project Environment Case, including through the demonstration of Best Available Techniques within environmental / waste assessments.
- Delivery of bespoke environmental assessments and work packages across the project lifecycle.
- Identification and management of environmental risks (and opportunities).
- Assist the environmental manager with environmental assurance, including the development and delivery of audits (for example, in direct relation to design and construction works).
- Through close collaboration with the project construction team and relevant contractors, collate and report on environmental metrics.
- Completion of environmental sustainability assessments and provision of evidence to support wider project sustainability goals. This will include collecting data from the project engineers, to support ongoing lifecycle carbon emissions analysis.
As a Environmental Advisor you will already have:
- A degree in a relevant field such as environmental management, a relevant science, or engineering.
- Membership of a relevant institution or professional body such as the Institute of Environmental Sciences.
- Proven experience in environmental (including waste) management, delivered under a recognised environmental management system is crucial.
- Evidence of engagement in ongoing training and development to stay updated with the latest environmental policies, regulations and procedures.
- Evidence of working collaboratively within a project team.
- Proven ability to produce clear and concise technical documents.
- Familiarity with the Environmental Permitting Regulations
- Experience in demonstrating the application of Best Available Techniques in support of Environment Cases.
- Experience of embedding sustainability within projects. This could be, for example, through the application of BREEAM or other sustainability assessment methods, or through the development of sustainability assessments for business case submissions.
