About The Role

Are you passionate about environmental compliance, sustainability, and supporting one of the UK's largest infrastructure projects?

Balfour Beatty, as part of The MEH Alliance, is seeking an Environmental Advisor to join our team at Hinkley Point C. This role plays a key part in ensuring environmental excellence across site operations. The position supports the Environmental Manager in promoting best practice, managing environmental risks, and ensuring compliance with environmental legislation and project requirements.

Site-based role with 100% attendance on site at Hinkley Point C.

What you'll be doing

As an Environmental Advisor, you will work across the Hinkley Point C site, supporting environmental management activities and helping to embed a culture of sustainability and environmental responsibility throughout the project. The role involves close collaboration with contractors, operational teams, and stakeholders to ensure environmental risks are effectively managed and controlled.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support compliance with environmental legislation, permits, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with the implementation of Environmental & Sustainability (E&S) plans, standards, and work instructions.
  • Monitor environmental performance across site activities and contractor interfaces.
  • Support the investigation and close-out of environmental incidents and non-conformances.
  • Assist with environmental audits, inspections, and compliance checks.
  • Conduct environmental assessments and contribute to mitigation planning.
  • Analyse environmental performance data, including emissions, waste, water usage, and incidents.
  • Support environmental reporting and performance monitoring.
  • Deliver environmental awareness initiatives, toolbox talks, and training sessions.
  • Promote continuous improvement and sustainable working practices across the project.

Who we're looking for

Essential

  • Experience working as an Environmental Advisor, ideally within construction or a related industry.
  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in an environmental discipline or similar.
  • Construction industry experience.
  • Able to obtain a security clearance.

Desirable

  • 1-2 years' experience working within environmental management.
  • Awareness of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
  • Associate membership of IEMA or a similar professional body.
