Job Summary

The Environmental Affairs Manager is responsible for developing and managing global environmental programs, including Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) compliance policies, processes, and initiatives, to help ensure Avnet meets applicable environmental regulatory requirements worldwide. Key areas of responsibility include packaging, Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), batteries, plastic packaging taxes, and other producer responsibility obligations.

This role serves as a subject matter expert, providing guidance to internal teams, suppliers, customers, and third-party service providers while promoting knowledge sharing, training, and continuous improvement. Additional responsibilities include monitoring global environmental regulations, overseeing compliance communications, managing registration and reporting activities, collaborating cross-functionally to align compliance strategies with business objectives, and responding to regulatory, customer, and supplier inquiries. The Environmental Affairs Manager may have the opportunity to lead a team of compliance specialists to help achieve the company's environmental compliance and producer responsibility objectives.

Principal Responsibilities (What You'll Do)

  • Develop and maintain effective global EPR compliance policies, processes, and controls to ensure compliance with producer responsibility obligations related to packaging, WEEE, batteries, plastic packaging taxes, and other emerging environmental regulations. Conduct cost-benefit and risk analyses to support strategic business decisions and optimize compliance outcomes.
  • Serve as Avnet’s subject matter expert on global EPR requirements. Provide guidance and consultation to business functions, suppliers, customers, and leadership teams regarding regulatory obligations, registration requirements, reporting obligations, fee structures, labeling requirements, and compliance best practices.
  • Develop and deliver clear, impactful communications and training materials that support internal awareness of EPR obligations and demonstrate Avnet’s commitment to environmental compliance.
  • Monitor global EPR legislation, industry developments, and customer requirements to ensure compliance programs remain current and aligned with evolving regulatory expectations across all applicable jurisdictions.
  • Manage and oversee third-party EPR service providers, consultants, and reporting partners to ensure accurate registrations, data submissions, reporting, fee calculations, and audit support activities. Monitor performance and validate deliverables to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Lead EPR data collection, validation, and reporting activities by collaborating with suppliers, procurement, product management, logistics, finance, sustainability, legal, and IT teams.
  • Support regulatory registrations and ongoing compliance obligations across global jurisdictions, including producer registrations, authorized representative programs, reporting submissions, and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to implement processes and systems that improve EPR data quality, automate reporting activities, and enhance compliance efficiency.
  • Support customer and supplier requests related to EPR compliance by providing regulatory guidance, compliance statements, registration information, and reporting documentation as appropriate.
  • Participate in industry associations, regulatory working groups, and professional organizations to monitor emerging trends, influence industry discussions, and strengthen Avnet’s presence as a trusted compliance leader.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
