We are currently looking for an Environmental and Sustainability Officer to join our SHEQ team on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced environmental and sustainability professional to take a leading role in our environmental management and sustainability programmes.

You will have the opportunity to drive our carbon reduction strategy, support our Net Zero commitments and lead environmental reporting and continual improvement of our Environmental Management System.

From carbon accounting and Scope 3 emissions to climate adaptation and sustainability reporting, you will play an important role in ensuring we continue to meet environmental legislation, international standards, customer requirements and emerging sustainability reporting obligations.

The Role

As an Environmental and Sustainability Officer, you will lead our environmental management and sustainability programmes, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, international standards, customer requirements and sustainability reporting obligations.

Reporting to the Group SHE Manager, you will drive our carbon reduction strategy, climate adaptation initiatives and environmental reporting, while supporting the continual improvement of our Environmental Management System.

You will also manage carbon and sustainability reporting, support environmental audits and tender submissions, and promote environmental awareness and improvement initiatives across the organisation.

About You

To be considered as an Environmental and Sustainability Officer, you will need:

  • A degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline
  • Full Membership of IEMA (MIEMA/FIEMA) or CIWEM
  • Experience operating and maintaining ISO 14001:2026 Environmental Management Systems
  • Proven expertise in greenhouse gas accounting and reporting under ISO 14064
  • Experience undertaking Scope 3 emissions assessments and supply chain mapping
  • A thorough understanding of Carbon Reduction Plans and PPN 06/21 requirements
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental legislation and compliance obligations
  • Experience preparing sustainability disclosures and environmental reports
  • A strong understanding of the 2026 EU Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS)
  • Experience undertaking environmental audits and managing audit programmes
  • Experience analysing environmental data and producing performance reports
  • Experience supporting public sector and major infrastructure tenders
  • The proven ability to develop and implement environmental improvement initiatives
  • A full, current driving licence

Hours of Work: Monday – Thursday, 8.30am – 5:00pm & Friday, 8.30am - 4.00pm. You will be required to travel for this position throughout the UK and possibly Ireland.
