Your new company
You will be joining an established environmental consultancy delivering high-quality environmental services across Scotland. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Environmental Clerk of Works (EnvCoW) to support a diverse portfolio of housing, renewable energy and infrastructure projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for an environmental professional looking to develop their consultancy career while gaining exposure to varied construction and development projects.
Your new role
As an Environmental Clerk of Works, you will provide environmental compliance, monitoring and advisory support throughout the delivery of construction projects. Working closely with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams, you will help ensure projects are delivered in accordance with environmental legislation, planning requirements and industry best practice.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Undertaking environmental compliance monitoring and auditing
- Monitoring compliance with planning conditions and environmental legislation
- Preparing environmental compliance reports and project documentation
- Producing Surface Water Management Plans (SWMPs) and Pollution Prevention Plans (PPPs)
- Identifying environmental risks and recommending practical mitigation measures
- Providing site-based environmental advice to contractors and project teams
- Liaising with clients, contractors, regulators and other stakeholders
- Supporting projects to achieve agreed programmes and budgets
- Contributing to environmental best practice and continuous improvement

What you'll need to succeed
You will have a degree in Environmental Management or a related environmental discipline, alongside a genuine interest in environmental compliance and construction projects.
Ideally, you will also have:
- Knowledge of environmental legislation and regulatory requirements
- Experience supporting environmental compliance on construction projects
- An understanding of CAR, SuDS, EIA, flood risk and pollution prevention
- Experience providing environmental advice to contractors
- Strong technical report-writing and record-keeping skills
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- A proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach
- The ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
- A full UK driving licence

Previous Environmental Clerk of Works experience, a relevant MSc, CSCS card or professional membership would be advantageous but is not essential.
