About The Role

As an inclusive, forward-thinking business, we take pride in our approach to Environmental Sustainability across Avara Foods and are looking for a highly competent and motivated Apprentice to join our Environmental Compliance Team.

There is the opportunity for the role to be undertaken as a Level 4 Apprenticeship as a Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Practitioner.

What will you be doing as an Environmental Compliance Apprentice at Avara?

As an Environmental & Energy Compliance Apprentice you will support the Environmental Compliance team in maintaining and improving compliance with ISO 14001, ISO 50001, MCERTS, environmental legislation, and company management system.

What will your key responsibilities as an Environmental Compliance Apprentice include?

• Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of the Environmental Management System (EMS).
• Assist in reviewing and updating environmental procedures, forms, registers, and supporting documentation.
• Help ensure compliance with ISO 14001, ISO 50001, and MCERTS requirements.
• Support the implementation of changes required by evolving environmental standards and business needs.
• Support the planning and delivery of environmental and energy audits across multiple operational sites to ensure compliance with ISO 14001 requirements.
• Assist with audit reporting, monitoring corrective actions, and helping to close out audit findings and non-conformances.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by tracking audit performance and supporting the development of effective audit programmes and plans.
• Support the collection, validation, and analysis of environmental and energy performance data.
• Assist with maintaining compliance records, developing dashboards and reports, and monitoring key environmental and energy metrics.
• Help manage energy consumption data across systems, ensuring data accuracy and investigating any discrepancies or anomalies.
• Support operational sites with environmental compliance activities, inspections, and assessments to ensure adherence to environmental standards and permit requirements.
• Assist with environmental incident investigations, follow-up actions, and promoting best environmental practices across site teams.
• Be involved in developing and delivering environmental training, toolbox talks, and awareness initiatives to promote understanding of environmental responsibilities and procedures.
• Support environmental and energy improvement projects, identifying risks and opportunities and contributing to performance reporting.
• Maintain accurate environmental records and documentation, supporting preparation for external audits and certification visits.
