WHAT DOES AN ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST DO?

A unique opportunity to support environmental compliance of our manufacturing operations whilst developing Bacardi’s goal to achieve NET ZERO. Provide support for Bacardi’s Global Sustainability programmes: Good Spirited, within the 10 sites (whisky and gin distilleries, maturation sites plus bulk and bottling operations) which constitute the UK and Republic of Ireland Supply Chain.

ARE YOU READY TO EMBARK ON YOUR NEXT MOVE?

  • Do you dare to be different?
  • Are you willing to question, challenge and innovate in pursuit of excellence?
  • Can you work collaboratively and inspire others?
  • Are you ready to make your mark?

Don Facundo Bacardí revolutionized the world of rums. As the cocktail industry continues to flourish every day, we strive to follow his legacy and delight the most demanding in the industry - our consumers! That’s where you come in!

RESPONSIBILITIES

Regulatory and Permit Management

  • Maintain and renew all site environmental authorisations, including water abstraction and discharge consents (e.g. SEPA's Controlled Activities Regulations, CAR, licences).
  • Track and interpret environmental legislation (waste, air quality, chemicals) and assess the operational impact of new rules on Bacardi UK and ROI Supply Chain.
  • Act as the primary liaison with the environmental regulator (SEPA, EA, EPA), managing inspections, correspondence, and reporting deadlines.
  • Manage COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) obligations alongside environmental duties, given the flammable nature of spirit manufacturing.

Effluent, Water & Waste Compliance

  • Oversee management and lawful discharge of distillery-specific effluent streams — pot ale, spent lees, washings, and cooling water — ensuring they meet permit conditions on volume, chemical load, and temperature.
  • Monitor and report on by-product disposal routes (e.g. spent lees reuse in cooling-tower makeup water, pot ale evaporation/land-spreading, dark grains processing) to minimise environmental and aquatic-toxicity risk.
  • Manage water abstraction licensing and usage against permitted limits, supporting site water-stewardship targets and catchment risk management in coordination with the regulator.
  • Supervise hazardous and non-hazardous waste segregation, storage, transfer-note documentation, and disposal in line with waste regulations.

Emissions & Air Quality

  • Track greenhouse gas emissions reporting obligations and support decarbonisation/energy-efficiency initiatives tied to compliance commitments.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
