The postholder will work collaboratively with specialist staff at partner institutions, including Cardiff University and the University of the West of England, as part of a wider Wales-wide project team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead, coordinate and deliver the North Wales activities of the Breaking Barriers project, ensuring activities are delivered to agreed objectives, timelines and budgets.
• Work with teachers, schools and education partners to support the co-development, piloting, implementation and wider rollout of bilingual environmental science projects and resources for primary schools across North Wales, aligned with the Curriculum for Wales where appropriate.
• Coordinate and support teacher secondments, professional learning opportunities and continuing professional development activities, working collaboratively with teachers and education partners to strengthen teacher’s confidence and capacity to embed environmental science and careers-related learning within primary education.
• Plan and deliver outreach, engagement and community activities, including workshops, events and other interventions involving schools, families, communities and partner organisations.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with schools, educators, communities and partner organisations, identifying opportunities to extend engagement with underrepresented and geographically isolated communities.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across Bangor University, partner universities, NERC research centres and external organisations to coordinate and support the successful delivery of project activities across Wales.
• Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of project activities, including collecting and maintaining accurate records, gathering feedback and supporting evidence-informed project development and reporting.
• Contribute to project reporting, dissemination and legacy activities, including the preparation of reports, educational resources, guidance materials and other dissemination outputs.
• Support project governance and administration, including ethics processes, record keeping, advisory group activities and attendance at project and funder meetings.
• Manage and monitor expenditure against allocated project budgets in accordance with University and funder requirements.

Essential

Qualifications/ Training

• Undergraduate degree (or equivalent professional qualification or equivalent relevant experience) in education, environmental science, geography, sustainability, science communication, social sciences or another relevant discipline.

Experience/Knowledge

• Experience working with schools, teachers, educational programmes or educational outreach initiatives.
• Experience of designing, developing and delivering educational activities, resources, training or professional development opportunities for educators.
• Knowledge of environmental science, STEM or related disciplines and the ability to communicate these effectively to a range of audiences, including children, young people, educators and other non-specialists.
• Experience of successfully leading the design, planning, coordination and delivery of projects, programmes or initiatives involving multiple collaborators, stakeholders and partner organisations.

Desirable

• Relevant postgraduate qualification.
• Professional qualification or recognised training in education, engagement, outreach, public participation, project management or evaluation.
• Experience engaging with Welsh communities, Welsh-medium education, or Welsh-language environments.
• Knowledge of the Curriculum for Wales and/or the primary education sector.
• Experience of working in a Higher Education environment.
• Experience designing and delivering engagement, outreach or educational activities that support participation from underrepresented or underserved communities.
• Experience of collecting and analysing qualitative and/or quantitative data to evaluate educational, outreach or engagement activities.
