Role Description

The Environmental Educator role is a full-time remote position based in or near Sheffield, UK, working closely with schools that use Solar Options for Schools Ltd solutions. Day-to-day tasks include designing and delivering engaging environmental and sustainability lessons, workshops, and activities that incorporate solar energy and related topics. The Environmental Educator will adapt and develop curriculum materials for different age groups, support teachers in integrating environmental themes into their lessons, and facilitate online or on-site educational sessions where required. The role involves collaborating with school staff and internal teams, collecting feedback to improve learning resources, and promoting awareness of ecology, wildlife, and renewable energy in school communities.

  • Strong Environmental Education and Outdoor Education skills, with experience engaging learners of various ages.
  • Knowledge of Ecology and Wildlife, and the ability to translate complex concepts into accessible, age-appropriate learning.
  • Experience in Curriculum Development, particularly with sustainability, energy, or science subjects.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills, including confidence in delivering remote and in-person sessions.
  • Relevant degree or certification in environmental science, education, ecology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with schools or youth groups and familiarity with UK education standards is beneficial.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple projects, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
