Environmental Engineers
Chiswick, West London (hybrid working)
Rates negotiable - please advise rate sought
Potentially 6-12 months of work.
Projects TBC depending on when they start, but likely to be multiple project and potentially multi-GBU.
Requirements
- 10-15 years of experience who has worked for one of our Design Contractor/EPC competitors.
- A hands-on engineer, not a manager or consultant with 25-30 years of experience.
- Experience should be relevant – not a Process Safety Engineer with a few months doing Environmental.
- Water/wastewater treatment experience would also be a plus.
- Not necessarily oil and gas, could also be pharma, power, or other manufacturing.
- We are not looking for someone who has spent most of their career producing or managing EIAs or environmental services (i.e., biodiversity studies, soil remediation, compliance for an operating site).
Role Description
Major Responsibilities
- Plan, execute, and review environmental engineering deliverables for technical accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
- Develop environmental basis documents, permit support inputs, compliance matrices, discharge criteria summaries, and environmental design inputs for project execution.
- Coordinate with permitting, environmental, engineering, construction, client, and other stakeholders to resolve environmental interfaces, risks, and compliance-related impacts.

Education and Experience Requirements
- Requires a bachelor’s or higher degree in chemical, process, environmental, mechanical, or related engineering discipline from an accredited university (or international equivalent) and 10+ years of relevant experience in either environmental engineering or water treatment.
- Professional Engineering license, or ability to obtain registration, is preferred.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Strong communication, prioritization, problem-solving, and influencing skills across clients, suppliers, equipment vendors, matrixed engineering teams, and global shared-work teams.
- Strong understanding of environmental engineering principles, permitting support, discharge criteria, waste and wastewater interfaces, regulatory compliance documentation, and environmental design inputs.
- Ability to develop and review environmental deliverables, including basis documents, permit support inputs, compliance matrices, discharge criteria summaries, and interface documentation.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations, client standards, project specifications, and cross-discipline interfaces across design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup.

Water/wastewater treatment experience - Optional
- Plan, execute, and review water treatment deliverables, including water balances, design criteria, system schematics, equipment lists, specifications, and technical requisitions.
- Ability to develop and review water treatment deliverables, including calculations, schematics, specifications, requisition packages, supplier data reviews, and design interface documents.
