We are seeking an experienced Title II Environmental Engineering Support Specialist to support United States Air Force infrastructure programmes at RAF Mildenhall. This is an excellent opportunity for an environmental professional with Defence or major infrastructure experience to play a key role in ensuring environmental compliance throughout the lifecycle of high-value engineering and construction projects.

Working alongside engineering, planning and programme teams, you will provide specialist environmental advice, coordinate regulatory compliance activities and help deliver projects that meet USAF, DoD and UK environmental requirements.


The Role

Reporting to the Engineering Support Manager, you will be responsible for managing the environmental planning and compliance activities for assigned Title II projects from initial planning through to completion.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing environmental compliance throughout all phases of assigned construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinating Environmental Impact Analysis Process (EIAP) and NEPA compliance activities.
  • Preparing and managing AF Form 813 environmental planning workflows.
  • Reviewing engineering designs to identify environmental constraints, project risks and mitigation requirements.
  • Coordinating environmental permitting and regulatory approvals where required.
  • Monitoring mitigation commitments and ensuring environmental obligations are implemented throughout project delivery.
  • Providing technical advice to project managers, engineers and stakeholders.
  • Liaising with USAF personnel, UK regulators and host-nation authorities.
  • Assisting with regulatory comment resolution and environmental documentation.
  • Ensuring projects comply with DoD, USAF and UK environmental legislation and policies.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and environmental best practice across the programme.

About You

We are looking for a motivated environmental professional who enjoys working within complex engineering and defence environments.

Essential

  • Minimum 4 years' professional experience in environmental project management or environmental engineering.
  • Experience managing environmental compliance on engineering or construction projects.
  • Demonstrable experience supporting EIAP/NEPA environmental processes.
  • Experience reviewing engineering designs and identifying environmental constraints and mitigation measures.
  • Knowledge of project lifecycle management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of DAFI 32-1015 and other DoD/USAF environmental policies.
  • Experience supporting overseas US military programmes.
  • Understanding of UK environmental legislation and planning regulations.
  • Experience working with host-nation environmental authorities.
  • Project Management qualification such as PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, APM PMQ, or equivalent.
  • Environmental qualifications (IEMA Practitioner, Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv), or similar).
  • Previous experience working on USACE, USAFE or NATO programmes.
