The City of Fort Worth Solid Waste Services
The City of Fort Worth Solid Waste Services collects, consolidates, transports, and properly disposes of animal carcasses. The City of Fort Worth properly disposes of approximately 86,000 pounds of animal carcass waste per year and averages 500 collection requests monthly. These requests will come from the residents of Fort Worth and all customers who call the City of Fort Worth Call Center to make a request for collections within the City of Fort Worth. Must be able to work independently, respond to dead animal collections in a timely and efficient manner, and provide great customer service.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED and no previous experience required
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Operating minor equipment such as air tools, scrapers, shovels, ratchets, dollies
- Performed basic preventative maintenance on equipment
- Basic computer skills
- Customer Service experience
- Experience working with cleaning or collecting animal carcasses
- Identification or process training, identifying animals and disposal at landfills

Job Responsibilities:
- Collect and dispose of animal carcasses while following federal, state, and local environmental regulations
- Ability to operate hand tools and city vehicles daily
- Ability to work independently and follow safety regulations
- Work effectively independently as well as in a team atmosphere
- Warehouse and outside environment. Exposure to dust, noise, chemicals, and seasonal weather
- Depending on assignment, the task will typically exert up to 150 pounds of force routinely, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly moving objects
- Meet collection time objectives
- The candidate will need to stay abreast of changing regulations while completing all continuing education classes to maintain environmental, safety, and health certifications

- Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling and lifting.
- Medium work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
