Are you passionate about ensuring healthy living, working, and recreational conditions for all members of the community? A leading organisation in the Health and Wellbeing sector is seeking an Environmental Health Officer to join their team in the Bradford area.

As an Environmental Health Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining and improving public health standards across residential, commercial, and industrial premises.

This is a contract initially until the end of February 2027 with possible extension.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

Your duties as the Environmental Health Officer will be varied; however, the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  • As the Environmental Health Officer, you will implement the organisation’s statutory and discretionary functions and policies concerning Environmental Health and Housing responsibilities.
  • As an Environmental Health Officer, you will investigate and resolve service requests related to Environmental Health and Housing, ensuring compliance with departmental procedures and guidance.
  • As an Environmental Health Officer, you will make recommendations on the service of statutory notices, institution of legal proceedings, and approval of licences and registrations.
  • As the Environmental Health Officer, you will attend courts of law, tribunals, and public enquiries as an ordinary and expert witness.

Skills And Experience

To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Environmental Health Officer, we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

  • Relevant degree in Environmental Health or a Diploma in Environmental Health recognised by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. You must be a qualified Environmental Health Officer or Environmental Health Practitioner with a EHORB Registration or equivalent from the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
  • Proven industry experience in Environmental Health, including the preparation and service of enforcement notices and the initiation of legal proceedings.
  • A working knowledge and practical experience with risk-based inspection programmes, including the application of suitable inspection methodologies and enforcement actions.
