Your new company

A large and well-established local authority is seeking an experienced Environmental Operations Manager to support the delivery of key public realm and environmental services across one of the UK's largest cities. The organisation is driving significant change through a major waste transformation programme, focused on improving recycling rates, reducing waste and enhancing environmental quality for residents.

This is an opportunity to join a high-profile service area that works closely with councillors, local communities and frontline operational teams to address environmental issues across the city.

Your new role

As Environmental Operations Manager, you will lead and manage a team responsible for protecting public health and the local environment, whilst supporting the delivery of a newly established local investigations function.

The role will involve coordinating responses to environmental and public realm issues across multiple service areas, including waste, highways, environmental enforcement and community concerns. Working closely with stakeholders, councillors and operational teams, you will ensure environmental issues are identified, investigated and resolved efficiently.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and developing environmental and enforcement teams
  • Overseeing environmental health and regulatory service operations
  • Coordinating multi-service responses to environmental issues and public complaints
  • Working closely with elected members and senior stakeholders
  • Monitoring team performance, workloads and service delivery targets
  • Managing investigations, enforcement activity and operational projects
  • Supporting the delivery of waste reduction and recycling initiatives
  • Preparing reports, performance data and service updates
  • Managing budgets, resources and procurement requirements
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, policies and best practice

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
