Other Requirements
- You will have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree but will not have graduated at the start of your placement.
- You must be enrolled at a UK (United Kingdom) or ROI (Republic of Ireland) University for the duration of your placement.
- If you have already graduated with a bachelor’s degree and are currently studying a postgraduate Masters, you are not eligible for this programme.
- Language requirement: Written and spoken fluency in English

Role 1 – Environment, Health & Safety Associate - Worthing
Degree requirements: Engineering related disciplines: Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering or other relevant degree subject.
Workplace Arrangements: Full time on site required
Overview of the Department
The Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Placement offers experience within a cross-functional team supporting the safety, health, and environmental performance of a manufacturing site. The role provides exposure to a wide range of site operations, enabling students to develop practical experience in risk management, safety improvement, sustainability initiatives, data analytics, and project delivery. Working with stakeholders across the business, students contribute to creating a safe and sustainable workplace while developing valuable technical, analytical, and project management skills.
Key Placement Activities
- Conducted risk assessments and supported risk management activities to identify hazards and implement effective control measures.
- Supported the development and implementation of safety programme, promoting a strong culture of health, safety, and compliance across the site.
- Analyzed EHS performance data and utilized digital analytics tools to identify trends, create reports, and support data-driven decision-making.
- Assisted with EHS audits, compliance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain high safety and environmental standards.
- Developed and supported engineering and sustainability solutions to address safety, environmental, and operational challenges.
- Managed and contributed to EHS projects and wellbeing initiatives, promoting environmental sustainability alongside physical and mental health awareness.
Role 2 – Environmental Health, Safety Montrose
Degree requirements: Health & Safety, Environmental Science or related life sciences/engineering degree.

Overview of the Department
This Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Placement provides practical experience supporting safety, health, and environmental compliance within manufacturing and laboratory operations. The role involves working closely with operational teams to promote a strong safety culture, support regulatory compliance, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Students gain exposure to risk management, incident investigation, auditing, training, environmental activities, and project delivery while developing a broad understanding of EHS practices in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
Key Placement Activities
- Supported day-to-day EHS compliance activities, including risk assessments (COSHH), safety inspections, audits, and maintenance of EHS records.
- Assisted with incident and near-miss investigations, analyzing findings and contributing to actions that improve workplace safety.
- Supported the implementation and continuous improvement of EHS programme, including waste management, chemical handling, permit-to-work systems, and environmental monitoring.
- Analyzed EHS performance data and trends to support reporting, compliance monitoring, and data-driven decision-making.
- Prepared safety documentation and delivered EHS training, inductions, and toolbox talks to promote awareness and a positive safety culture.
- Contributed to EHS projects and environmental compliance initiatives, engaging with stakeholders across manufacturing and laboratory operations to drive continuous improvement.

Role 3 – Environmental Health and Safety Support – Ware
Workplace Arrangements: Full time on site required
Overview of the Department
The site EHS team at Ware are responsible for the safety of staff, contractors and visitors on site. The team specialize in different fields including engineering activities, ergonomics, manual handling, noise, COSHH and high-risk activities.
Key Placement Learnings
- Organizing and running site meetings, understanding of site safety requirements and implementing standards, point of contract for contractors and staff on safety concerns.
- Undertake Risk Assessments and develop the site Machinery Safety improvement program.
- Own elements of the Contractor safety improvement program.
- Improve EHS training methods to include new technologies/methods by keeping up to date on health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations.
- Use EHS data analysis to improve EHS performance by understanding the impact of the workplace on the environment and how to minimize negative effects.
- Analyse procedures and standards to both simplify and improve our approach and implement preventative measures, as well as deliver training programmes to staff.
- Gain skills in emergency response planning by preparing for and responding to workplace emergencies.
