ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH AND SAFETY OFFICER
AliveDx is recruiting for an Environmental, Health and Safety Officer based in our Penicuik site. The role is a full time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week.
YOUR MISSION
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Develop and lead the site EHS strategy, policies and procedures, driving a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement across the business.
- Carry out risk assessments, safety inspections and audits, tracking corrective actions through to closure and keeping pace with changing EHS legislation.
- Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses, using trend data to drive preventive action and report performance to senior leadership.
- Manage the safe use, storage and disposal of hazardous substances and waste, and own the site's environmental management arrangements (ISO 14001), including monitoring energy, waste and emissions.
- Own and maintain the site’s environmental management arrangements (e.g. ISO 14001), including monitoring of waste, emissions, energy and water use, and identify opportunities to reduce environmental impact.
- Manage emergency preparedness and response, including fire drills, and coordinate emergency teams such as fire marshals and first aiders.
- Deliver EHS training across the site - from induction through to biological safety and spill response - and champion process excellence.

YOUR COMPETENCIES
- A Science or Engineering degree, with a NEBOSH National Certificate (or equivalent) in Occupational Health and Safety.
- A Biological Safety qualification (Level 1 Practitioner) and IEMA membership or an equivalent environmental qualification; a NEBOSH National Diploma would be an advantage.
- Extensive EHS experience in a regulated manufacturing environment - medical device, IVD, pharmaceutical or similar - with a strong track record in incident investigation, audits and regulatory inspections.
- Experience supporting FDA QSR, ISO 13485 and ISO 14001 audits or inspections.
- Strong working knowledge of risk assessment methodology, COSHH, root cause analysis, and EHS management systems, along with REACH and CLP regulations.
- A confident communicator and report writer who can challenge current practice, engage teams in continuous improvement, and manage own time and priorities effectively.
