EHS Specialist Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced EHS Specialist to join a busy engineering and manufacturing environment where Health, Safety and Environmental performance is a key priority.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can combine strong technical EHS knowledge with a practical, solutions-focused approach. You will play an important role in developing and delivering the site’s EHS strategy, ensuring compliance while driving continuous improvement across the operation.
Working closely with management, employees, facilities and maintenance teams, you will help embed a strong safety culture and ensure that EHS processes are practical, effective and aligned with the needs of a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm, Friday 8:00am – 3:30pm

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver EHS strategies, programmes and action plans, using data, analysis and problem-solving techniques to improve site performance and drive towards zero accidents.
- Maintain and continuously improve the EHS management systems, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements, ensuring procedures, safe systems of work, risk assessments and associated documentation remain effective and compliant.
- Provide expert EHS advice across the site, translating legislation and regulatory requirements into practical processes, controls and training for employees and management.
- Lead investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions using Lean and continuous improvement/problem-solving methodologies.
- Take responsibility for EHS considerations relating to contractors, process assets, equipment and site activities, ensuring appropriate risk and change management controls are in place.
- Support the development of a positive EHS culture through audits, safety meetings, training, coaching and engagement with employees, while monitoring key metrics and identifying opportunities for further improvement.

Essential Experience / Skills / Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a strong EHS background within an engineering, manufacturing or similarly regulated environment, with the ability to operate effectively in a busy, hands-on setting.
You will ideally have:
- NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma, or equivalent.
- Environmental qualification such as IEMA or IOSH would be advantageous.
- Experience implementing, maintaining and improving ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Strong knowledge of EHS legislation, regulations and practical risk management.
- Experience with risk assessments, incident/near-miss investigations, change management and contractor management.
- Knowledge of Lean, A3 or other structured problem-solving and continuous improvement techniques.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage with people at all levels.
- A proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach to EHS.
