EHS International Recruitment for Environmental Health & Safety Specialist

EHS International is recruiting on behalf of a global organisation that is expanding its Industrial Hygiene services across the UK and Europe. We are looking for an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist to join their growing team of technical specialists in the UK covering the Midlands regions.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Health and Safety professional looking to take the next step in their career, working across a diverse client base and a range of technically challenging projects. You’ll have the opportunity to apply your technical expertise across multiple industries, while developing your consultancy, client management and project delivery skills.

With an established portfolio of high-profile projects across the UK and Europe, strong industry links and an experienced technical team, this role offers the opportunity to build a long-term career within a supportive and growing consultancy environment.

Key Responsibilities of the Environmental Health & Safety Specialist:

  • Strong technical knowledge and practical experience across occupational and industrial hygiene.
  • Strong understanding of workplace exposure assessment, monitoring methodologies and relevant legislation and standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop practical and bespoke solutions.
  • Strong report writing skills, with the ability to communicate technical findings clearly to a range of audiences.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and site personnel.
  • Well organised and capable of managing multiple projects, priorities and client requirements.
  • Commercially aware, with the ability to manage project resources, timelines and budgets effectively.
  • Positive and adaptable approach, with a genuine interest in technical development and continuous improvement.

Required Skills and Experience of the Environmental Health & Safety Specialist:

  • Conduct occupational hygiene surveys, workplace exposure assessments and monitoring programmes across varied environments.
  • Plan and undertake personal and area monitoring for airborne and physical hazards, including dusts, fumes, gases, vapours, fibres, noise, vibration and thermal exposure.
  • Develop appropriate sampling strategies and operate, calibrate and maintain occupational hygiene monitoring equipment.
  • Evaluate existing exposure controls, including LEV, engineering controls, work practices and PPE, and provide practical recommendations for improvement.
  • Prepare clear, technically robust reports outlining findings, conclusions and recommendations.
  • Manage projects from planning through to delivery and reporting, ensuring quality, timelines and budgets are met.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, laboratories, contractors and other stakeholders throughout projects.
  • Maintain accurate sampling, calibration and project records in line with quality procedures.
  • Keep up to date with relevant legislation, HSE guidance, standards and developments in occupational hygiene.
  • Support client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the company’s occupational and industrial hygiene services.

The Successful Candidate:

  • Degree or postgraduate qualification in Occupational Hygiene or a relevant science or engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrable professional experience in Occupational Hygiene / Industrial Hygiene consultancy.
  • Experience conducting workplace exposure assessments and occupational hygiene monitoring.
  • Experience interpreting monitoring data and providing practical exposure-control recommendations.
  • Strong technical report writing and client-facing experience.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider technical consultancy team.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK and Europe as required.
