Environmental Health Technician (Occupational Hygiene)

Location: Hinkley Point C, Somerset
Job Type: Permanent
Client: Leading Engineering & Maintenance Provider
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (site-based)
Accommodation: Can be booked via company portal
Mileage allowance: Will be provided

Are you an experienced Environmental Health Technician OR Occupational Hygiene Technician looking to contribute to one of the UK's largest infrastructure projects?

We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable professional to join a major project at Hinkley Point C. In this role, you will provide expert occupational hygiene support, helping to drive continuous improvement, promote safe working practices, and ensure compliance with legislative, contractual, and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stay up to date with Occupational Hygiene legislation, industry standards, and best practices to support compliance and continual improvement.
  • Provide guidance on: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE)
  • Ergonomic considerations and musculoskeletal injury prevention
  • Support the HSE Lead in delivering the Occupational Hygiene strategy across the project.
  • Conduct Occupational Hygiene inspections, audits, investigations, and studies as required.
  • Promote Occupational Health awareness through: Safety meetings, Toolbox talks
  • Site training sessions
  • Monitor Occupational Hygiene performance and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements to ensure compliance with company procedures.
  • Identify non-conformances, agree corrective actions with site management, and ensure successful close-out.
  • Prepare and deliver Occupational Hygiene KPI and performance reports in line with client, business, and regulatory requirements.
  • Deliver practical on-site advice to ensure Occupational Hygiene standards and behaviours are embedded across project activities.

  • Extensive experience working as an Occupational Hygienist or Occupational Hygiene Technician within industrial, engineering, energy, manufacturing, or construction environments.
  • Strong experience managing: Welding fumes, Welding habitats, Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems, Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE)
  • Proven track record of conducting audits, inspections, and implementing corrective actions for non-conformances.

Qualifications

  • BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene (CertOH), or
  • Currently working towards the BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene
  • CCNSG Safety Passport
