Position Overview

As an Environmental Intern, you'll support the Environmental Team with regulatory research, participating in field exercises at projects, developing environmental articles, preparing and presenting training, and conducting vendor reviews. As you continue pursuing your degree during the school year, we'll support you by offering real world experience at one of North America's largest and most respected construction and engineering organizations.
District Overview
Kiewit’s Central District is one of our largest infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil, structural concrete/bridge, water/wastewater, and transportation projects. We self-perform work such as mass grading, drainage, paving, utility and more - so be ready to get your hands dirty! While headquartered in Denver, Colorado, the majority of our work is concentrated in the Rockies, Midwest, and South-Central regions of the United States. We are looking for people committed to the construction industry rather than design.
Location
Although headquartered in Denver, Colorado, Central District has projects that span anywhere from the Rockies to the Mississippi. A majority of our work is concentrated in Colorado, Tennessee, Nebraska, New Mexico, and Montana. In addition, we partner with many of our sister districts who have work in the surrounding states such as Texas, Kentucky, and Louisiana. Our projects are located in both large cities and small towns, so our people must be willing to go where the work is. Job assignment location will be determined closer to your start date. Must be able to travel and relocate as business requires.

Responsibilities
- Support the Environmental department with regulatory research
- Keep abreast of Federal environmental legislation and regulations and conduct regulatory research
- Develop environmental articles for newsletter
- Assist with developing minutes for conference calls and training
- Assist with electronic solutions and data input to track company sustainability performance
- Assist with preparation and presentation of environmental training
- Participate in field exercises at projects and conduct vendor reviews
- Overall department support and duties as assigned
- Inventory for Greenhouse Gases and participate in sustainability initiatives
Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree in environmental science or related field in environmental compliance or engineering
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Detail oriented, flexible and highly motivated
- Strong work ethic and professional demeanor
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Ability to perform multiple tasks efficiently and accurately
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Team player but able to work independently to meet intense deadlines, goals and objectives
- Willingness and flexibility to travel, as needed
- Ability to work 30-40 hours in the summer and 5-20 hours during the school year

- Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
Base Compensation
$20.00/hr - $24.00/hr (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
