We are seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to join a major nationally significant infrastructure project. Based in Birmingham, this role offers the opportunity to play a key part in the delivery phase of a large-scale engineering and construction programme, ensuring environmental compliance and sustainability objectives are achieved throughout the project lifecycle.
Working as an integral member of the SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) team, you will provide environmental leadership across project activities, supporting operational teams and stakeholders to maintain the highest environmental standards while driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Role Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee environmental management activities across the project.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental legislation, permits, approvals, and company standards.
- Monitor, review and report on environmental performance and compliance.
- Support project teams in identifying and managing environmental risks and opportunities.
- Develop and implement environmental management plans, procedures, and controls.
- Conduct environmental audits, inspections, and assessments, ensuring findings are addressed effectively.
- Provide environmental advice and guidance to project stakeholders, contractors, and delivery teams.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote best practice and achieve environmental objectives.
- Contribute to sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement programmes.
- Support the successful delivery of project milestones while maintaining environmental compliance standards.

Skills, Experience And Qualifications
- Degree qualified in an Environmental, Sustainability or related discipline.
- Professional membership of IEMA or working towards membership.
- Strong understanding of environmental management principles and practices.
- Experience in environmental management within major infrastructure, construction, or engineering projects.
- Experience supporting environmental compliance within complex project environments.
- Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation, regulations, and industry best practice.
- Experience working within project delivery environments and supporting large-scale infrastructure programmes.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to influence, engage and provide clear environmental guidance to diverse teams.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Experience working on nationally significant infrastructure or major capital projects.
- Experience within large-scale framework or programme-based delivery environments.
- Chartered status or progress towards a relevant professional accreditation.

About The Energy Business Unit
We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.
Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
