Job Title: Environmental Specialist
We're looking for an experienced Environmental Specialist to join a forward-thinking organisation playing a pivotal role in the UK's energy transition.
This is an exciting opportunity to influence how future energy infrastructure is planned and developed, ensuring environmental considerations are embedded into strategic decision-making across Great Britain.
You'll play a key role in supporting the development of Regional Energy Strategic Plans helping identify environmental constraints, risks and opportunities while collaborating with technical specialists, regulators and wider stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead environmental inputs into regional energy strategic planning, ensuring environmental risks, constraints and opportunities are identified and considered.
- Support the integration of environmental considerations into long-term energy infrastructure planning and investment decisions.
- Contribute to Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA), Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRA) and Marine Conservation Zone (MCZ) assessments, where required.
- Build strong working relationships with internal environmental teams to develop consistent assessment processes and best practices.
- Engage with government bodies, regulators, consultants and other stakeholders to communicate findings and incorporate feedback.
- Monitor changes in environmental legislation, policy and emerging best practice to inform strategic planning activities.
- Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to support the successful delivery of regional energy plans.

About You
We're keen to hear from environmental professionals who can combine technical expertise with strong stakeholder engagement and a strategic mindset.

You'll ideally bring:
- Experience delivering environmental assessments and appraisals at a strategic plan or programme level.
- Strong knowledge of statutory environmental assessment requirements across Great Britain.
- Understanding of environmental constraints associated with energy infrastructure or major development projects.
- A degree in an environmental discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
- Membership of a relevant professional body, such as IEMA or CIEEM.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex environmental information for different audiences.
- Proven ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders and work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying solutions.
