Environmental Protection Officer πŸ“ North West England πŸ“… 6-Month Contract πŸ’· Β£45 per Hour βœ… Outside IR35 🏒 Local Authority πŸš€ Immediate Start Available

Are you an experienced Environmental Protection Officer looking for your next contract opportunity?

We are currently working with a Local Authority in the North West that is seeking an Environmental Protection Officer to join their team on an initial 6-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a busy Environmental Health service, dealing with a varied caseload and making a direct impact within the local community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate and resolve statutory nuisance complaints relating to:
    • Noise
    • Smoke
    • Dust
    • Odour
    • Light pollution
  • Undertake environmental monitoring and noise assessments.
  • Serve notices and carry out enforcement action where required.
  • Provide environmental health input on planning applications.
  • Respond to licensing consultations and applications.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and evidence gathering.
  • Prepare reports and maintain accurate case records.
  • Liaise with residents, businesses, councillors, and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant environmental protection legislation and guidance.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working within a Local Authority Environmental Protection team.
  • Strong working knowledge of Environmental Protection Act legislation and statutory nuisance investigations.
  • Experience dealing with planning and licensing consultations.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload independently.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.
