About the Company

Lakeland Dairies Co-operative Society Limited (The Group) is the second largest dairy processor on the island of Ireland. The business is complex and ambitious with a milk supply pool of 2 billion litres of milk, drawn from over 3,200 family farms across 16 counties.

The Opportunity

Applications are invited for the above position at our Artigarvan site.

Our team in Artigarvan are seeking a proactive and driven Environmental Supervisor to lead the effective management and operation of our Effluent Treatment Plant while driving environmental performance across the site on an 18-month basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for an environmental professional who is passionate about sustainability, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

As Environmental Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring legal and environmental compliance, reducing waste and operational costs, and supporting the delivery of the company's environmental and energy strategy. You will act as the site's environmental subject matter expert, providing technical guidance to management and promoting best practices across the business.

What Does Success Look Like?

  • Ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of the Effluent Treatment Plant.
  • Maintaining compliance with all environmental legislation, permits, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Leading the implementation and continuous improvement of environmental policies, procedures, and the Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Driving waste reduction initiatives that deliver both environmental and cost-saving benefits.
  • Providing technical environmental expertise to management teams to support informed decision-making.
  • Monitoring environmental performance and ensure effective controls are in place to achieve business objectives.
  • Promoting awareness of emerging environmental issues, legislation, best practice, corporate responsibility, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Delivering environmental training and guidance to employees, ensuring staff fully understand their environmental responsibilities.
  • Supervising effluent plant operations, ensuring appropriate corrective action is taken in the event of any incidents or spillages.

What Will You Bring to the Role?

  • Possessing a 3rd level qualification in a science/environmental related discipline.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of water treatment/effluent plant operations.
  • Experience of using environmental management systems and Microsoft Office packages.
  • Experience of dealing with statutory bodies and/or managing and coordinating audits would be advantageous.
