An exciting opportunity has become available for an Environmental & Sustainability Advisor or Manager to join a rapidly growing energy and industrial infrastructure group.
The organisation operates across the energy, ports, marine, oil and gas, renewables and fabrication sectors, supporting major projects from its network of operational sites across Scotland.
This environmental and sustainability role will support existing port operations, major energy projects, ongoing site developments and future tender agreements. With significant investment and project growth taking place, the successful environmental professional will join the business at an important stage of its development.
The position can be appointed at either Environmental Advisor or Environmental Manager level, depending on experience.
Applications are welcomed from candidates at different stages of their environmental and sustainability careers, with the opportunity for an Advisor to develop and progress into a Manager position.
Key Environmental and Sustainability Responsibilities
- Manage environmental and sustainability activities across the organisation’s ports and operational facilities
- Support environmental requirements for new energy projects and future tender agreements
- Monitor environmental performance relating to water, energy, waste and carbon
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits and regulatory requirements
- Manage environmental requirements relating to EPR, PPC, NORMs and Water Discharge Consents
- Develop environmental and sustainability reports, procedures and reporting templates
- Support carbon-footprint baselining, forecasting, monitoring and reporting
- Oversee the environmental compliance of the Effluent Treatment Plant
- Manage waste handling, storage, recycling and disposal activities
- Coordinate environmental audits, accreditation schemes and compliance programmes
- Engage with environmental regulators, government agencies, auditors and industry stakeholders
- Work closely with HSEQ, operational and senior management teams to embed environmental best practice and sustainability initiatives
- Identify opportunities to improve environmental performance across the wider energy and infrastructure group

About You / Minimum Requirements
- Previous experience in environmental compliance, environmental management or sustainability, with candidates at all levels considered
- Applications welcomed from Environmental Advisor through to Environmental Manager level
- Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Sustainability or a related discipline
- Understanding of environmental legislation, permitting and consenting
- Knowledge of carbon emissions and Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 reporting
- Strong environmental data analysis and sustainability reporting skills
- Confident engaging with operational teams, senior management, environmental regulators and external auditors
- Comfortable working across both strategic environmental initiatives and practical site-based activities
- Able to work independently and travel between sites
- Full UK driving licence
- Full right to work in the UK without sponsorship

Please note: Environmental or sustainability experience within energy, ports, marine, fabrication, oil and gas, renewables, manufacturing, utilities or heavy industry would be advantageous. However, candidates from other sectors with transferable environmental compliance or sustainability experience are also encouraged to apply.
Desirable Experience
- A recognised environmental or sustainability qualification
- Professional membership with IEMA, ISEP or a similar environmental body
- Water-quality monitoring, pollution prevention, waste or effluent management
- Oil & Gas, Renewables, Construction, Engineering or Fabrication experience
- Environmental audits and ISO 14001 management systems
- ISO 14001 Lead Auditor qualification
- Experience supporting environmental requirements for energy projects, operational facilities or tender submissions
