About The Role
As Environmental Sustainability Officer, you will play a key role in helping Artifex achieve its environmental and sustainability ambitions while ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, standards, and customer requirements.
Working closely with the HSES Director, site HSES Managers, and leadership teams across the business, you will support the continuous improvement of environmental performance, management systems, and sustainability initiatives. This is an opportunity to influence meaningful change, driving projects focused on energy efficiency, carbon reduction, sustainable transport, material reuse, and waste reduction as part of our journey towards becoming a climate-neutral organisation. You will act as a trusted advisor, coach, and champion for environmental sustainability across our UK operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and delivery of Artifex's environmental and sustainability strategy through robust management systems, auditing, and continuous improvement activities.
- Lead sustainability initiatives across energy, transport, and material usage.
- Manage environmental reporting and data.
- Support ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 audits.
- Ensure legal and customer requirements are effectively implemented.
- Facilitate sustainability committee meetings.
- Drive corrective actions.
- Maintain environmental documentation and legal registers.
- Provide guidance to management teams on best practice.
- Work collaboratively across sites to help embed a culture of compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Support the achievement of key sustainability objectives and performance targets.

About You
- Experience in environmental sustainability, environmental engineering, or HSES roles within manufacturing, production, or automotive environments.
- Strong understanding of environmental management systems and relevant standards, including ISO 14001, with knowledge of ISO 50001 and environmental legislation highly desirable.
- Organised and proactive, comfortable managing multiple priorities, analysing data, and delivering improvement projects.
- Communicate confidently with stakeholders at all levels, combining strong influencing skills with a collaborative and supportive approach.
- Passionate about sustainability, committed to continuous improvement, and motivated to make a genuine impact on environmental performance while helping colleagues succeed and grow.
