Sustainability Project Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sustainability Project Manager to lead the delivery of the Green Plan (2025-2028) across Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will play a key role in driving forward carbon reduction initiatives, improving resource efficiency, and embedding sustainable practices across clinical and non-clinical services.

The role requires strong project management skills, stakeholder engagement, and a solid understanding of sustainability within a healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • To lead the delivery of sustainability projects across the Trust, ensuring alignment with the Moorfields Green Plan and wider NHS Net Zero targets.
  • To identify, develop and implement initiatives that reduce carbon emissions, improve resource efficiency, and embed environmentally sustainable practices across clinical and non-clinical services.
  • To support the development and monitoring of sustainability programmes, including data collection, analysis, and reporting on environmental performance.
  • To ensure robust governance of projects, including risk management, financial oversight, and delivery against agreed timelines and outcomes.
  • To provide expert advice and guidance on sustainability to colleagues across the organisation, promoting best practice and supporting behaviour change initiatives. To contribute to staff engagement, education and training to embed a culture of sustainability throughout the Trust.
  • To represent the Trust in regional and national sustainability networks, contributing to the development of NHS-wide initiatives and sharing learning and innovation.
  • To support the Trust’s reputation as a leader in sustainable healthcare through collaboration, research, and continuous improvement.
