The Opportunity
Environmental sustainability has become an increasingly important focus for the Stockton facility, and we are looking for a dedicated Environmental Technician to help maintain and continuously improve environmental performance across the site. Working closely with the UK Environmental Manager and site leadership teams, you will support environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement activities. You will also play a key role in promoting environmental best practice, raising awareness across the facility and supporting the delivery of Caterpillar's sustainability objectives.
The Caterpillar Building Construction Products' fabrication facility at Stockton uses the latest technology to laser cut, weld and machine all the major structures for use at the assembly plant at Leicester.
What you will do:
As an Environmental Technician, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting environmental compliance and governance through routine inspections, monitoring activities and adherence to environmental legislation and site requirements.
- Managing environmental reporting and records, including corporate environmental metrics, waste reporting and associated compliance documentation.
- Maintaining and supporting the site's ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, ensuring standards are upheld and opportunities for continuous improvement are identified.
- Coordinating and conducting environmental audits across the facility and with external contractors, ensuring actions are tracked and completed effectively.
- Supporting sustainability and environmental improvement initiatives, including carbon emissions tracking and delivery of the site's Multi-Generational Project Plan (MGPP).
- Promoting environmental awareness and best practice by collaborating with site teams, supporting environmental training activities and engaging stakeholders across the business.

What You Can Demonstrate:
Level: Extensive Experience
Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Produces and maintains accurate environmental records, reports and metrics, ensuring information is reliable, audit-ready and supports effective compliance monitoring and decision-making.
Level Working Knowledge:
- Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Policy Compliance: Applies knowledge of environmental policies, regulations and compliance requirements to support audits, inspections and monitoring activities, helping ensure the facility operates in accordance with legal and company standards.
- Effective Communications: Communicates clearly and professionally with colleagues, contractors and leadership teams, promoting environmental awareness, supporting training activities and encouraging the adoption of good environmental practices.
- Managing Multiple Priorities: Effectively balances environmental projects, compliance activities and administrative responsibilities, adapting to changing priorities while consistently delivering work to agreed deadlines.
What You May Have:
- Process Management: Supports the development, implementation and improvement of environmental processes and procedures, helping drive compliance, efficiency and continuous improvement.
- Influencing: Builds positive working relationships and uses effective communication to encourage environmental best practice, gain stakeholder support and drive engagement with environmental initiatives.
- Initiative: Takes a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement, resolving issues and supporting environmental and sustainability objectives with minimal supervision.

Travel:
