Summary
A great opportunity for a remote sensing or Earth Observation (EO) professional or researcher, with knowledge of satellite EO data systems and processing, preferably in the domain, to join the Telespazio UK team, whilst working client side for a UK Home Office Customer.
Objective
We are looking to second a member of our team into an important Home Office customer based in Portsmouth. We are looking to provide an Air and Space Operations Officer (CS grade EO/HEO) to support air and space tasking and operations. The candidate will work in a busy operations room providing support to a variety of government operations staff. This will include tasking air and space assets to support Police, Defence, fisheries protection, and Border Force operations or surveillance. The Air and Space Operations Officer will report to the Assistant Director for Air and Space.
Responsibilities/Duties
The successful candidate will be expected to;
- Support the tasking and coordination of airborne and satellite-based collection activities.
- Manage stakeholder requests for intelligence, Earth Observation products, and operational data.
- Analyse and interpret geospatial and EO datasets to generate actionable insights.
- Produce reports, maps, dashboards, and briefing materials for operational stakeholders.
- Present findings and recommendations to government and operational partners.
- Maintain accurate records of tasking activity, data holdings, flight logs (hours flown), and operational outputs.
- Ensure information is managed and disseminated in accordance with security classification requirements.
- Monitor operational performance, collection metrics, budgets, and benefits realisation activities; delivering collection and detection metrics on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, and operational partners.

Qualifications/Experience
- University degree / MSc (or equivalent) in Geography, Physics, Remote Sensing or a related discipline.
- Active SC Clearance, or agreeable to undergo clearance.
- Confident and communicative individual.
- Maritime, Air, or Space ISR Domain knowledge preferred.
- MS Office proficient.
Essential
- Experience in Earth Observation and GIS (preferably in a maritime domain).
- Experienced in using QGIS and the ESRI Suite.
- SC Clearance.
- Experience in a customer facing role.
- Ability to plan and prioritise activities.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
Desirable
- Some knowledge or understanding of ESA and Copernicus programmes.
- Some knowledge or understanding of EO data processing levels.
Qualities
- Comfortable in a (scientific) customer facing role.
- Self-motivated and creative individual, actively seeking opportunities for the business.
- Positive, “can-do” approach.
- Willingness to adapt role to meet current needs.
- Encouraging and supportive of team co-workers.
