Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated E&P / Electrical Design Engineer to support the delivery of multidisciplinary railway infrastructure projects across the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and verification of Electrical and Plant (E&P) systems for Network Rail and associated rail industry clients.
This role will involve the production of high–quality engineering designs from feasibility through to detailed design and construction support, ensuring compliance with Network Rail standards, relevant legislation, and industry best practice.

Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
- Produce electrical and E&P designs for rail infrastructure projects in accordance with Network Rail standards and client requirements.
- Undertake feasibility studies, option selection, GRIP/PACE stage designs and detailed engineering design.
- Design and coordinate:
- LV power distribution systems
- Station electrical services
- Lighting systems
- Small power installations
- Distribution boards
- Cable routing and containment systems
- Earthing and bonding systems
- Plant power supplies
- Depots, stations and lineside electrical installations
- Prepare engineering calculations, specifications and design reports.
- Produce and review:
- Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
- Cable schedules
- Load assessments
- Equipment layouts
- Installation drawings
- Electrical schematics
- Support design integration with other engineering disciplines including Civil, Track, Signalling, Telecoms and OLE.

Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure designs comply with:
- Network Rail standards
- Railway Group Standards
- British Standards (BS)
- Electrical safety regulations
- CDM Regulations
- Participate in interdisciplinary design reviews and hazard workshops.
- Support the design assurance process, including IDC, IDR and engineering verification activities.
- Assist with technical approvals and submission of design deliverables.
