About Hydram Engineering
Hydram Engineering is one of the largest subcontract precision sheet metal fabrication companies in Europe, and a leader in the UK sheet metal fabrication market, serving a diverse portfolio of customers from our single site in Chilton, County Durham. Our business has consistent, often scheduled demand, with deep IT integration across sales, manufacturing, logistics, HR, purchasing, and finance.
Our current platforms are reliable but dated, so we're modernising our core transactional system with a new implementation of Epicor's mature Kinetic platform — a challenging project given how established and interconnected our existing systems are. Our current two-person IT systems team brings strong development and integration experience but lacks the capacity and Epicor-specific expertise to lead this alone. That's where you come in: you'll join the team to strengthen it and drive the systems transition and the improvements it will unlock.
About the Role
You'll be a vital member of the technical implementation team, working closely with a multifunctional project group to understand business requirements, identify functionality gaps, and develop practical solutions. This is a hands-on role covering everything from system design and data migration through to testing, go-live and post-implementation support.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
