As we continue to expand our Real-World Evidence and Epidemiology capabilities, we are seeking an accomplished Epidemiologist Director to join our growing team.
We are looking for a client-facing experienced consultant and researcher focused on building client trust through excellence in project delivery across non-interventional/real-world evidence (RWE) and low-interventional studies as well as a broad spectrum of consulting areas (e.g., clinical development, RWE, health economics, and outcomes research [HEOR]).
Job Overview
As Director, Epidemiology, you will serve as a trusted advisor to clients and a senior methodological leader within Fortrea Consulting. You will lead complex epidemiology and real-world evidence engagements, providing scientific oversight across study design, methodology, analysis, interpretation, and communication of findings.
You will work closely with pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients to address critical evidence-generation needs, support regulatory and payer decision-making, and deliver scientifically robust solutions that create meaningful impact across healthcare.
In addition to client delivery, you will play a key role in business development, thought leadership, innovation, and the continued growth of Fortrea's epidemiology practice.
What You Will Do
Scientific Leadership & Client Advisory
- Provide senior scientific and methodological leadership across observational, non-interventional, and real-world evidence studies.
- Advise clients on evidence-generation strategies that support clinical development, regulatory submissions, market access, and health technology assessment requirements.
- Lead the design and oversight of complex epidemiologic and real-world evidence research programs.
- Ensure scientific rigor, methodological excellence, and regulatory relevance across client deliverables.
- Communicate complex scientific concepts and study findings effectively to technical and non-technical audiences, including regulatory, payer, and executive stakeholders.
Client Delivery & Strategic Consulting
- Lead client engagements and act as a trusted advisor throughout the project lifecycle.
- Deliver strategic epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, and real-world evidence expertise across a broad range of consulting assignments.
- Manage multidisciplinary project teams to ensure successful delivery of high-quality solutions.
- Provide expert guidance on study design, data strategy, and analytical approaches to address client business and scientific objectives.
- Drive quality, innovation, and excellence across all client-facing activities.

Business Development & Practice Growth
- Contribute to the identification, pursuit, and successful delivery of new business opportunities.
- Develop and strengthen long-term client relationships through exceptional scientific leadership and service delivery.
- Lead the epidemiology component of proposals, study scoping, budgeting activities, bid defenses, and capability presentations.
- Support the continued growth and market positioning of Fortrea Consulting through thought leadership and industry engagement.
Innovation & Thought Leadership
- Advance Fortrea's epidemiology and real-world evidence capabilities through innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Author and contribute to scientific publications, white papers, conference presentations, and industry thought leadership activities.
- Help define best practices that strengthen methodological excellence, scientific credibility, and evidence-generation standards across the organization.
People Leadership
- Mentor, coach, and develop epidemiologists and multidisciplinary consulting professionals.
- Support talent development, succession planning, and recruitment activities.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing culture.
- Lead project teams and provide performance guidance and professional development support.
What We Are Looking For
- Doctoral-level degree in Epidemiology, Pharmacoepidemiology, Public Health, or a related quantitative health science discipline.
- Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of educational requirements.
- Demonstrated scientific leadership and technical expertise in epidemiology applied to non-interventional and real-world evidence research.
- Proven success leading client engagements and managing multidisciplinary project teams.
- Experience developing and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Collaborative leadership style with the ability to work effectively across disciplines and global teams.

Required Experience
- A minimum of 10 years of experience applying epidemiological methods within consulting, CRO, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, academic, or related environments, including significant non-interventional research experience.
- Doctoral-level candidates with at least 8 years of relevant experience will also be considered.
- Minimum 6 years of experience leading teams, mentoring staff, and managing complex projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD, DrPH, PharmD, MD, or equivalent advanced scientific qualification.
- Deep expertise in real-world evidence, observational research, and applied epidemiology.
- Solid understanding of secondary real-world data sources (e.g., claims, CPRD/NHS, EHR, registries).
- Experience with external control arms/synthetic controls, natural history studies, and HEOR deliverables (e.g., comparative-effectiveness studies, payer evidence, indirect treatment comparisons).
- Experience supporting evidence generation for regulatory, reimbursement, and health technology assessment purposes.
- Strong business development, consulting, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary environments spanning epidemiology, market access, biostatistics, healthcare analytics, and health economics.
- Ability to influence strategic decision-making and develop innovative client solutions.
