Job Overview
Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is undergoing an exciting phase of growth and change to fulfil the Trust’s digital strategy. An Electronic Patient Record (EPR) Solution will ensure the Trust continues to improve services we deliver around patient care. It will provide real-time information about a patient’s condition, treatment plans, diagnostic results, clinic visits, and more. In addition to improving patient care, the EPR solution will optimise clinical and operational procedures across the organisation, allowing us to ensure better outcomes for our patients.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will lead and coordinate change across clinical and operational teams using transformation and change management skills to embed service and cultural change. They will initiate new ways of working across the organisation and support teams to embed the change by providing training, tools, and techniques. A key part of this role will include leading the roll out of the surgical and inpatient components of the Meditech Expanse EPR.
We are looking for a candidate who has the ability to align operational requirements to the technical solution, with previous experience of managing change.
Overview Of The Role
- Lead change management for EPR transformation projects, with a focus on surgery and inpatients and the rollout of additional systems which integrate with the Expanse EPR.
- Engage clinical, operational, and digital teams through workshops, huddles, and ongoing communication to shape and validate future workflows.
- Assess change impacts, develop training/support materials, and provide hands-on floorwalking during go-lives.
- Coordinate programme activities, track progress, manage risks/dependencies, and ensure delivery against key milestones.
- Act as a bridge between operational/clinical teams and digital/technical teams, ensuring system design and configuration meet service needs.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
- Take lead responsibility for the development and delivery of designated transformation projects of work.
- Develop and promote close and collaborative working relationships across all stakeholders across the Trust.
- Use structured methodology to lead change and change management activities to transform the service, clinical pathways, and operational processes.
- To provide expert advice both of highly complex and straightforward nature on service redesign and to attend meetings to promote service transformation of a given portfolio where there may be resistance to change.
- Lead discussions with clinicians, operational leads, and informatics and digital teams using highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Actively contribute to EPR build activities, ensuring that system design and configuration reflect clinical and operational needs, and support the transformation of services.
- Work collaboratively with external vendors and internal stakeholders to optimise clinical and operational pathways as part of the EPR solution.
- Responsible for leading stakeholder workshops to gather requirements, validate processes, and support design and delivery phases.
- Responsible for rostering duties for the change team, ensuring appropriate resource coverage across all workstreams.
- Monitor tasks and activities using programme trackers, ensuring timelines are met and issues are escalated as needed.
- Report dependencies, risks, and progress against deliverables to programme leadership, ensuring transparency and alignment across teams.
- Responsible for ensuring that staff are provided with appropriate education and training opportunities to ensure that there is a critical mass of people with service and workforce change management skills.
- Work flexibly with a wide range of stakeholders in the delivery of programme milestones and outcomes.

Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to Bachelor’s Level or equivalent level of experience (e.g. Business, Management, HR) or ability to demonstrate equivalent level of experience.
- Change management methodology qualification (APMG Change Management Practitioner or equivalent certification), similar level experience.

Essential criteria
- Experience of leading on complex service transformation and change projects at a senior level.
- Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders from across multiple teams, services, and organisations.
- Experience of communicating highly complex, sensitive or contentious information to individuals and large groups.
- Good knowledge of health service management, project management, and change management and redesign.
Desirable criteria
- Previous line management experience.
