Equine Groom Apprenticeship with Tom Rowland Eventing
Tom Rowland Eventing is an international event yard with horses ranging from 4 year olds to 5* horses. They are now recruiting for a motivated and enthusiastic Level 2 Equine Apprentice to join their friendly, professional team. This position is for someone who already has good experience with horses.
Requirements
- GCSEs in English and Maths (grade 4) are desirable.
- Ability to share other relevant qualifications and industry experience, as the apprenticeship can be adjusted.
- Good experience with horses, ideally competition horses.
- Hard working and enthusiastic with a passion to succeed within the equine industry.

Responsibilities
- Mucking out
- Turning out/bringing in
- Tacking up and tack cleaning
- Feeding and filling hay nets
- Clipping/pulling/plaiting/trimming
- Bathing, grooming and rug changing
- Schooling and riding for the right candidate
- First aid
- Exercising horses from the ground (lunging, horse walker, long reining, pessoa training etc.)
- Holding for vet/farrier/dentist
- Helping to prepare horses for competition
- Accompanying Tom to competitions (with support) or training activities
Benefits
- Wage: £16,640 for your first year, potentially increasing depending on age (National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices).
- Training course: Equine groom (level 2).
- Hours: 40 hours per week across 5 days out of 7, potentially including at least one weekend day.
- Duration: 1 year.
- Progression: Possibility of Level 3 Senior Equine Groom Apprenticeship on completion of Level 2.

Application Process
- This is a Level 2 Equine Apprentice position.
- Training provider: HADDON TRAINING LIMITED
- Training schedule: All training provided on site during paid working hours. Daily mentoring with employer, with monthly online and in-person sessions with a Haddon Training Trainer Coach.
