Equipment Development Engineer - Manchester
At Nexperia Manchester, we are expanding our Quality Lab Engineering team with the addition of 2 x Equipment Development Engineers. If you are an experienced engineering leader who enjoys improving complex laboratory equipment, leading on projects, developing technical capability and delivering measurable operational improvements, we want to hear from you.

Please note, these Equipment Development Engineer roles are located in Manchester. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for them so you must have the permanent right to work in the UK to be considered.
What you will do
As an Equipment Development Engineer, you will provide technical leadership for the Quality Lab Engineering team, driving the development, integration, optimisation and continuous improvement of laboratory equipment and test capabilities. You will work with stakeholders across Quality, Reliability, Manufacturing and Product Engineering to define engineering standards, solve complex technical challenges and deliver improvements in equipment capability and performance.
Duties will include:
- Acting as the technical expert for laboratory equipment and test systems
- Leading equipment optimisation, integration, and capability improvement projects
- Driving equipment reliability, utilisation, productivity, and cost improvements
- Leading complex technical investigations and root cause analysis activities
- Defining engineering standards, best practices, and technical strategy
- Mentoring and developing engineers across the team
- Collaborating with stakeholders across Quality, Reliability, Manufacturing, and Product Engineering

What you will need
Essential
- Degree in Electronic, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, Physics, or related
- Experience (ideally leading but at least being involved with) complex engineering projects and equipment integrations
- Experience working on automated equipment, instrumentation and control systems
Beneficial
- Experience in semiconductor test, characterisation, reliability, or advanced manufacturing
- Experience coaching or mentoring engineers
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it
- Experience developing custom hardware or software solutions
- Experience with equipment safety systems and risk assessments
- Experience leading technical or organisational change
