Role Description The Equipment Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Towcester, responsible for maintaining and improving semiconductor and photonics manufacturing equipment. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Troubleshooting equipment issues
- Performing preventive and corrective maintenance
- Coordinating repairs with vendors
- Ensuring optimal tool uptime and performance

The role involves:
- Monitoring equipment metrics
- Implementing hardware and software upgrades
- Supporting process engineers with equipment-related improvements and yield enhancement projects
The Equipment Engineer will also contribute to:
- Documentation
- Safety and compliance activities
- Continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and manufacturing efficiency
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair within a high-tech or manufacturing environment.
- Experience with semiconductor, photonics, or precision mechanical equipment, including calibration and performance optimization.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, equipment manuals, and engineering documentation, and apply findings to practical solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including root-cause analysis and data-driven decision-making.
- Familiarity with safety standards, EHS practices, and cleanroom or controlled-environment protocols.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams, vendors, and operations staff.
- Relevant technical education, such as a degree or diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Prior experience in an optical, photonics, semiconductor, or electronics manufacturing setting is highly beneficial.
