The TD Equipment Delivery team has a requirement for a Mechanical Engineer to support them in the end-to-end delivery of equipment contracts.

The role of Equipment Engineer reports to an Engineering Manager and works within the Equipment Delivery Team.

To discharge this role, you should have suitable & sufficient experience of power station equipment design, engineering, manufacture, and installation to allow you to be the guiding hand to ensure decisions are made that are best-for-project. This work could encompass Mechanical, Electrical, and Instrumentation & Control, and applications are welcomed from people with experience in any/all these fields.

This role will provide the opportunity to develop in-depth knowledge of EPR design and operation, to lead and enact pragmatic decision making on a daily basis, and the opportunity to work in a fast-paced project environment.

Scope:

The principal responsibilities are the following:

  • Take full ownership of cross-functional technical issues which would otherwise not be resolved within the MDT, achieving a best-for-project solution with a schedule-conscious approach.
  • Provide a decisive escalation route for issues which are deadlocked and a catalyst for innovative optioneering.
  • Work with the programmes and the technical teams on prioritisation and emerging scope topics, maximising the efficiency and value of delivery.
  • Global risk management - Understand risks and keep up to date risk tracking.
  • Specific risk management - Bring issues back under control when they start to escalate, putting in place mitigation plans and working with the technical and programme teams to bring an issue back under control.
  • Advocate for pragmatic decision making which respects the overall aims of the project and ensures. This will involve producing and driving mitigation plans for risks and issues, ensuring they are delivery focused. There will also be a strong focus on optioneering and governance decisions, ensuring these are fit for purpose and made at the right level.
  • Manage the provision of engineering services for HPC project, achieving suitable technical outcomes with a focus on value engineering and optimisation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
