About the Role:
- Location: Aberdeenshire
- Hours: Full Time
The Equipment Trainer will help employees build their skills and knowledge in the safe and correct use of Motive lay equipment. They will provide practical training to make sure employees know how to use the equipment safely, efficiently, and within its operating limits. The Equipment Trainer will ensure all training follows Motive’s HSEQ requirements, company procedures, and relevant safety rules.
This is an opportunity to use your technical expertise to make a lasting impact across the business. You'll play a key role in developing the knowledge and capability of our onshore and offshore personnel, delivering engaging training, and helping to shape the way we learn. Working with colleagues across multiple regions and divisions, you'll be part of a collaborative team where your experience will be valued, and your contribution will directly support the continued growth and success of Motive.
About the Team:
Reporting to our Learning & Development Manager, you’ll join a small, dedicated L&D team committed to keeping everyone at Motive connected and supporting the business in making the difference it strives to achieve. Through Learning and Development, our mission is to equip our people with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need to grow and succeed. This role will play a massive part in making that happen.

Responsibilities:
People
- Adopt and promote the Motive Offshore Group People Values and ensure their use is embedded throughout.
- Be a positive ambassador for Motive Offshore Group Ltd.
- Develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders – clients, colleagues, etc.
Planet
- Lead by example in setting the highest possible standards in the promotion of People Values, HSEQ procedures, and best practice, ensuring compliance to the Motive Offshore Group HSEQ Policy, procedures, standards, and regulatory obligations.
- Immediately report all accidents, incidents, near misses, or environmental concerns.
- Adhere to and participate in company-wide sustainability policies, procedures, and initiatives as they are developed to support our Net Zero objectives.
Product
- Work with the L&D Team to plan, develop, and deliver training and competency programmes for Motive equipment.
- Make sure training follows Motive procedures, risk assessments, and safe working practices.
- Provide practical training, guidance, and mentoring to Motive Equipment Operators.
- Supervise and coach Equipment Operators when required.
- Support clients and provide a professional and helpful service.
- Identify any gaps in knowledge, skills, or safe working practices and take action to address them.
- Travel to Motive and client locations to deliver training when required.
- Attend internal and external training courses when required.
- Complete and upload training and competency records to the relevant system.
- Carry out other reasonable duties requested by Management.
Required Skills / Knowledge:
- Mechanical or engineering background/trade qualification.
- Current offshore certification, including relevant offshore survival training and a valid offshore medical or seafarer’s medical certificate.
- At least 5 years’ experience working with equipment or machinery in the offshore industry.
- Good practical knowledge and experience of operating Motive equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and people skills.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize workload.
- Ability to support, coach, and train others in the safe use of equipment.
