Equities Trader

We are working with a highly regarded global investment fund that is continuing to build out its London investment platform and is looking to appoint an experienced Trader to join its investment team.

This is a highly visible position within a stable and established investment platform, reporting directly to the CIO in London and working closely with senior investment professionals. For this hire, we are particularly looking to speak with candidates who are immediately available or on short notice periods.

The successful individual will play a central role in translating investment decisions into effective market execution across global markets. The role will have a strong focus on global equities, with responsibility for execution quality, liquidity, market impact and risk.

Beyond day-to-day execution, the firm is looking for someone who can bring strong institutional rigour to the trading function, provide meaningful insight around market conditions and implementation, and contribute to the continued development of the firm's trading processes, tools and execution capabilities.

The Role

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Executing equities and other relevant transactions across global markets, with a strong focus on execution quality, liquidity, market impact and risk
  • Working closely with the CIO and investment professionals to translate investment decisions into appropriate execution strategies
  • Providing actionable insight on market conditions, liquidity, positioning, flows, volatility and execution risk
  • Taking ownership of transactions from pre-trade analysis through execution and post-trade review
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with brokers, banks, liquidity providers and other market participants
  • Assessing execution venues, algorithms and trading protocols to identify the most effective sources of liquidity
  • Monitoring execution performance and identifying opportunities to improve outcomes and reduce transaction costs
  • Contributing to the development of trading analytics, tools, processes and technology
  • Supporting pre-trade decision-making, transaction-cost analysis and post-trade attribution
  • Working closely with Operations, Risk, Compliance and Technology to maintain a robust and scalable trading platform

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Experience handling both liquid and less-liquid securities, as well as more complex execution requirements
  • Strong judgement and the ability to make effective decisions in fast-moving market conditions
  • A track record of delivering high-quality execution rather than simply facilitating orders
  • The ability to work closely with senior investment professionals and contribute meaningfully to execution decisions
