Role Overview

Jefferies is seeking an Analyst to join its Equities Risk team in London. The role will support the oversight and control of a broad range of Equities businesses, providing daily risk coverage, independent challenge, and risk transparency to trading desks, senior management, and relevant governance forums.

The successful candidate will work closely with Trading, Risk Management, Risk Technology, Operations, Finance, and senior business stakeholders to ensure robust risk governance, effective escalation, and continued enhancement of the market risk framework. As the Equities business continues to grow and evolve, the role will also support the development of improved reporting, analytics, automation, and data quality initiatives.

The role is based in London, which remains the primary hub for Equities Risk management and where close interaction with traders and key stakeholders is often required.

About the Team

The Equities Risk team is responsible for the independent oversight and control of market risk across Jefferies’ Equities businesses. The team provides risk analysis, governance, reporting, and challenge to support informed decision-making and ensure that risks are appropriately identified, measured, monitored, and escalated.

As the Equities business continues to expand, the team plays a key role in enhancing risk infrastructure, automation, analytics, and governance to support scalable and effective risk management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily risk coverage and oversight across a broad range of Equities businesses, including monitoring exposures, limits, concentrations, risk sensitivities, and key market moves.
  • Produce, review, and enhance risk reporting, analytics, dashboards, and management information for trading desks, senior management, Risk Management, and relevant governance forums.
  • Deliver independent challenge to trading desks by assessing risk positions, trading activity, portfolio changes, market developments, and emerging risks.
  • Support timely identification, investigation, escalation, and resolution of risk issues, limit breaches, data quality concerns, and control matters.
  • Contribute to ongoing enhancements to the market risk framework as the Equities business continues to grow and evolve.
  • Develop and support risk automation initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, data quality, analytical capability, and risk visibility.
  • Use coding and data analysis techniques, where appropriate, to streamline reporting, automate processes, investigate risk drivers, and improve management information.
  • Partner with Risk Technology and other stakeholders to enhance risk infrastructure, reporting processes, analytical tools, and data workflows.
  • Engage regularly with Trading, Risk Management, Risk Technology, Operations, Finance, and senior business stakeholders to support robust risk governance and timely escalation of issues where required.
  • Assist with ad hoc analysis, stress testing, scenario analysis, deep dives, and presentation materials for senior management and risk committees.
  • Maintain awareness of market developments, product changes, and business growth initiatives that may impact the Equities risk profile.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
