Summary
The Equity Operations Manager is responsible for leading the operations and compliance of the company’s global equity programs, including stock options, audits, and cross-border regulatory requirements. This role requires proven, hands-on expertise in Shareworks to manage the administration of stock options, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across a growing and complex equity population. The Equity Operations Manager will oversee equity-related processes, ensure SOX-compliant practices, and should have prior knowledge of international tax treatments, global equity reporting, and the impact of employment type changes on withholding tax liabilities during exercises. You will work closely with Legal, Payroll, People, and Finance to deliver best-in-class equity support, enabling Deel to scale its equity programs globally in alignment with business and compliance goals.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and oversee the integrity and accuracy of data in an equity platform (proven experience with Shareworks is a big advantage).
- Develop and lead continuous improvements and scalable automation solutions for equity operations.
- Manage the Stock Option programs end-to-end, including grants, exercises, terminations, and adjustments.
- Own and enhance the grant lifecycle process, including documentation workflows, compliance checks, and approvals.
- Partner with Legal and Finance to ensure equity-related actions align with cap table governance and internal policies.
- Ensure full compliance with SOX internal controls and equity audit reconciliation processes.
- Deliver high-quality support to equity participants, resolving inquiries efficiently and with a strong customer focus.
- Collaborate with Payroll to ensure accurate and timely calculation and reporting of tax withholding obligations across jurisdictions.
- Work with the People team to validate and process equity data for board approvals, new hire grants, promotions, and organizational changes.
- Design and deliver training materials and sessions to educate employees on the equity program and relevant tax implications.
- Ensure global compliance with income and tax withholding rules, especially in scenarios involving cross-border mobility or changes in employment type (e.g., contractor to employee).
- Day-to-day responsibilities include: leading equity operations support for internal teams, preparing and reviewing data for grant cycles, managing country equity reporting, and coordinating with cross-functional and external stakeholders.
- Identify and lead AI-driven automation initiatives across equity operations workflows (e.g., grant processing, reconciliations), while preserving required SOX controls and validations.
- Use AI tools to research and map equity, tax, and compliance requirements when expanding into new jurisdictions.

Desired skills and competencies
- 3+ years of experience in equity administration, payroll, finance, or related fields, with direct responsibility for global equity operations.
- Proven experience using Shareworks to administer global stock option programs is a huge advantage.
- Demonstrated track record managing stock options, cap table systems, and equity-related legal and financial documentation.
- Experience executing equity audit reconciliations and maintaining SOX-compliant equity processes.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage complex data across systems.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and customer service skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar tools for equity data analysis and reporting.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional collaboration across Legal, Payroll, People, and external vendors.
- Strong AI adoption mindset — proactively identifies opportunities to apply AI/automation to equity operations rather than relying solely on manual processes.
- Practical experience using AI tools (e.g., Gemini, ChatGPT) for research, process design, and problem-solving, with sound judgment on where AI can and cannot be relied upon.

Our salary range reflects gross base salary. For commercial roles with commission eligibility, this figure represents On-Target Earnings (OTE), inclusive of base salary and target commission.
Salary ranges are quoted in USD as a consistent global reference. Your offer will be localized to your country's currency using a market-aligned conversion.
Final pay is based on objective, job-related criteria including experience, skills, and location.
We don't ask about salary history. Offers are based on the role and what you bring to it.
