Equity Research Expert

Position: Equity Research Expert

Type: Contractor

Compensation: $175–$300/hour

Location: Remote

About the Opportunity

micro1 is seeking experienced Equity Research Experts to support projects focused on fundamental equity analysis, financial modeling, earnings evaluation, valuation, and investment research.

This role is ideal for professionals with experience in sell-side research, buy-side analysis, investment research, equity valuation, and sector-focused financial analysis. You'll apply your expertise to evaluate complex financial information, assess company performance, and contribute to high-quality research and investment analysis projects.

You'll leverage your knowledge of financial modeling, earnings analysis, valuation methodologies, industry research, and investment thesis development to support advanced financial research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate financial models, research materials, and investment analysis for accuracy and quality.
  • Analyze earnings reports, estimate revisions, management commentary, and company disclosures.
  • Perform peer benchmarking and comparative company analysis across sectors and industries.
  • Develop and assess revenue, profitability, cash flow, and valuation models.
  • Produce concise research summaries, company updates, and investment insights.
  • Evaluate industry trends, competitive dynamics, and company-specific catalysts.
  • Develop and articulate investment theses supported by quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Identify key drivers impacting business performance and valuation outcomes.
  • Provide detailed written feedback and recommendations to support research quality and consistency.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders on financial analysis, data quality, and research-related initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in Equity Research, Investment Research, Fundamental Analysis, or related financial research roles.
  • Strong financial modeling and valuation expertise.
  • Experience analyzing earnings reports, financial statements, and company disclosures.
  • Proven ability to connect business drivers to financial outcomes and valuation implications.
  • Experience conducting peer benchmarking, sector analysis, and competitive research.
  • Strong understanding of investment thesis development and fundamental research methodologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and financial reasoning abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a Sell-Side Research Associate, Research Analyst, Vice President, Director, or similar investment research role.
  • Experience independently covering public companies across multiple earnings cycles.
  • Deep expertise in one or more sectors such as Financial Services, Banking, Insurance, Healthcare, Biotechnology, Technology, Industrials, Consumer, Energy, or Real Estate.
  • Advanced financial modeling experience, including DCF, comparable company analysis, precedent transactions, and sector-specific valuation methods.
  • Experience publishing research reports, earnings notes, and investment recommendations.
  • Strong knowledge of capital markets, industry dynamics, and investment decision-making processes.
  • CFA designation or progress toward CFA certification is a plus.
