About the Role
Thank you for your interest in joining the People Directorate at Notting Hill Genesis. Our HR function is evolving into a confident, proactive partnership model. We work alongside leaders to manage risk well, support fair and consistent decision-making and build a positive, values-led colleague experience.
The ER Specialist plays an important role in this ambition. As a key member of the Employee Relations Centre of Expertise, you will support how we manage risk, handle complexity and build manager confidence across the organisation through high-quality, consistent and pragmatic ER practice.
You do not need housing sector experience to succeed. What matters most is strong ER expertise, sound judgement and the ability to provide clear, confident advice across a broad range of people matters.
What the Role is All About
As ER Specialist, you will provide expert advice and support on a wide range of employee relations matters, ensuring that cases are managed fairly, consistently and in line with employment law and organisational values.
Working closely with Senior HR Business Partners, HRBPs and Centres of Expertise, you will help strengthen organisational capability by supporting early, effective resolution of issues and contributing to a proactive, prevention-focused ER approach.
How You’ll Make a Difference
You will strengthen organisational performance and colleague experience by:
- Supporting managers to resolve issues early, constructively and with confidence, reducing escalation into formal processes
- Ensuring fair, consistent and high-quality handling of complex and sensitive ER cases
- Providing trusted, pragmatic advice to HR colleagues and leaders on people risk and decision-making
- Using ER insight and data to identify trends, hotspots and opportunities for improvement
- Supporting the consistent application of ER policies and helping to build organisational capability

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
