Ergonomist & Safety Officer

Location: Staines TW18 3DZ or Salford Quays M50 3SP
Hybrid and flexible working options available
2-3 days a week in the office required
Contract: Permanent
Full-time position: 37.5 hours
Salary: From £35,000 - £40,000 (dependent upon experience)

About the Role

We're looking for a qualified Ergonomist to join our Occupational Health & Safety team and help shape safer, healthier and more productive workplaces across the UK. This is an opportunity to use your expertise to prevent musculoskeletal injuries, support workplace adjustments, and improve the day-to-day experience of colleagues in office, operational and hybrid working environments.

As our subject matter expert in ergonomics and human factors, you'll work closely with managers, employees, Occupational Health and Health & Safety colleagues to identify risks, provide practical solutions and drive a proactive approach to wellbeing and workplace design.

What you’ll do:

  • Conducting DSE and ergonomic workstation assessments across office, operational and hybrid working environments.
  • Supporting employees who require workplace adjustments due to musculoskeletal conditions, health concerns or individual needs.
  • Identifying ergonomic risks and recommending practical workplace improvements.
  • Analysing incident and wellbeing data to identify trends and develop targeted interventions.
  • Providing guidance, training and education on best practice ergonomics and safe ways of working.
  • Reviewing and improving ergonomics-related policies, processes, assessment & reporting templates, ensuring alignment with best practice and organisational requirements.
  • Supporting wider Health & Safety activities including audits, risk management and investigations.

What you’ll bring:

  • Qualified in Ergonomics, Human Factors, Occupational Health, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, or a related discipline.
  • Chartered or Registered Member of the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics & Human Factors (CIEHF).
  • Previous experience in an ergonomics-focused role.
  • Experience of workplace adjustments, ergonomic assessments and DSE assessments.
  • Strong understanding of musculoskeletal injury prevention and workplace design.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Comfortable working independently and managing a varied workload across multiple locations.

You'll help our people work safely and comfortably by delivering high-quality ergonomic assessments, implementing effective workplace adjustments, reducing ergonomic risks and using data insights to drive meaningful improvements across the business. You'll be a trusted advisor who combines technical expertise with a practical, people-focused approach.
